Yeah some people seem to think it's a new weapon lol.
A brand new weapon to the game, for one class, and also they get access to a pistol. I think anet thought they were just being cheeky, but I'm guessing people are going to be disappointed when they realize it's a kit or something similar.
I wanted it to be a melee pistol personally. Like this is just what the warrior pistol attacks would look like. Would be fun to see them invert their melee weapons that are actually ranged and make a ranged weapon that is just solely melee.
My prediction is the adreneline mechanic is converted to gunblade "ammo", f1 equips the gunblade and consumes ammo for bonus damage or effects, and swapping out with normal weapons and fighting builds the ammo back up?
They keep repeating the phrase "maintain flow" and repeat it with off-hand pistol. Maybe the idea is that you can equip a gunsaber but need to generate adrenaline (maybe renamed flow?) to use the dragon-trigger.
I'm betting the adrenaline meter becomes the cartridge gauge, and you can only use gunsaber skills while you have cartridges that you build up with it sheathed.
My guess:
F1 = Equip/unequip the gunsaber.
Build adrenaline like normal but is now 5 bars of 5 adrenaline each. These are cartridges
F2 = once adrenaline is full, enter Dragon-Trigger, enabling use of these "magical cartridges" mentioned.
You get to use 5 skills before having to build Dragon-Trigger again.
I'm betting it's just treated like a third weapon, and the adrenaline mechanic either loads the apecial ammo or charges the dragon ability the preview spoke about.
If it were severly limited in uptime like tomes/shroud/avatar they wouldn't have counted it as the warriors second weapon, and given warrior a MH pistol.
Thats what I'm thinking, especially with the "maintain their flow" comment at the end of the trailer. So it'd be a bit like the Berserker, or as others have said, Necro shroud, ie. you draw your gun blade for new 1-5 skills and maybe it will disable 6-10.
This flow thing... They said the warrior needs to be calm to use the saber or something?....
... Reverse adrenaline bar, maybe?
Option 1- start with low adrenaline but with the gunsaber, and when at max (kinda like overheat) you reverse to the normal weapons
Option 2- start at max adrenaline, with normal weapons, and you have to spend/low your adrenaline to use gunsaber.
I don't really think it'd need to be that complex, but I suppose they could. Mechanically, I'd have it work the way it normally does, and when your bar is maxed out, you hit a button to draw your gun blade and then go shoot, bang, stabby.
It does raise an interesting point, do you lose your adrenaline burst skills in favour of just having the gun blade?
I don't like how photon forge throws a yellow tarp over your character model. Looks like you're made out of glowy cheese. I think if it just did the weapons it'd be nicer.
It looks like there are at least 3 different sword-drawing moves. The first one sends out a wave projectile in a straight line. The second one is the dash. The third one looks like a leap/shadowstep to the target followed by a big attack in a circle around you
Yeah and I don’t like that either, but with magic that’s more believable than with hard-light laser technology. I don’t think we can really be asked to believe that this one guy built his photon forge in a cave from scraps, but that’s the impression the game gives us.
The NPC himself claims there’s more holosmiths (which there aren’t), and that their technology just happened intuitively when they got access to Zephyrite crystals, but that’s not particularly believable either.
GW2's technology is often indistinguishable from magic and/or interwoven with it, I don't see why that's so specificaly unbelievable. The NPC says there are more holosmiths, just like any other mentor NPC says there are more, with no other NPC being of that profession.
Yeah that’s such a weird explanation.
The wonders of Elonian technology, 99.99% of the time:
* Water pipes and aqueducts
* Enormous stonework (pyramids and the like)
* Telescopes
* Some floating stonework
* Normal wooden ships with sails
Also Elonian technology, apparently, but just the once and it happened off-screen:
* Hyper-advanced hard light technology
* A pocket-sized, mobile reactor that powers said hyper-advanced technology
I know. But given it's a stupid-ass canon, I've elected to ignore it.
Like the posters above mentioned, elonians stumbling upon zephyrite crystals and just *spontaneously inventing lasers and force fields* is about as believable as Joko befriending Kralkatorrik. Especially since Elonians, compared to other cultures we know, are rather behind when it comes to tech.
And then we have Inquest with an *entire island dedicated to researching dragon magic* over at Sandswept, on scorching elonian lands. The global leaders of dragon magic tech.
But sure, it was some elonian nomads with some crystals they found.
So for the looks of it, the gunsaber is the profession mechanic, not a new weapon because the new weapon for warrior is off-hand pistol.
So, is it like Reaper shroud giving Necros a scythe?
In any case, this has to be the coolest Elite Spec they have shown in EoD!
Also, did I see that right? Off-Hand pistol has a self pushback?
Yeah but not really sure what the point of the knockback is. It is not like warrior has any ranged main hand that would want the distance.
It is CC, but they already have better options for that that don't require him to walk back to the target
Maybe the other weapon skill is some pull or leap.
Yes it feels that they're going to make the gunblade a mode, ala holoforge and reaper shroud, while giving off-hand pistol as the weapon for warrior.
I was hoping for dual pistols, oh well.
This kind of mechanic is becoming pretty common, and warrior’s adrenaline system already would lead into it well. The fact that it gets an entirely new weapon option to use skills with is a pretty clear indicator.
The trailer gives hints of it: Warrior is getting pistol offhand, not a new weapon type. This means the gunblade can only be part of the profession mechanic.
Not as stylish as FFXIV Samurai unfortunatly though. Those animations are majestic af.
Hope they're not finished with them here and add some more uniqueness to all the spec's animations.
those naga in the trailer really looked great, much more like the gw1 design compared to some of the naga we saw in the first look stream. And that tengu!
I guess since the profession mechanic changes of the previous two warrior elite specs were kinda minor (Berserker) to almost-non-existent (Spellbreaker), Warrior definitly deserves an "Elite Spec Weapon Kit" like Holo's forge, Druid's astral form or Firebrand tomes.
Now it will be exiting to see how long they can "stay" in this elite spec kit, whether its more permanent like Engi kits, has fixed charges like tomes or e.g. uses up adrenaline for its attacks ...
I am not sure what to think off this to be honest.
If anything it leaves me with more questions than before this teaser.
Is the gunblade a kit-like thing like Shroud/Holoforge, is it a special burst transformation, or is it something different (like always occupying the 2nd weapon slot)?
How does the dragon trigger fit into this?
'flow' somehow makes you able to use the dragon trigger, which seemed to be the evade attack forward.
But does this mean that flow replaces adrenaline, is flow a resource only available with Gunblade active, or is it just a choice of words without deeper meaning?
Off-hand pistol seems a bit like an afterthought ( and we did not see much of it, but that finishing shot on the Naga seemed to displace the Bladesworn backwards?).
I did not see anything about the utility skills.
Honestly it is 100% going to depend on the traits and what the exact nature of the Gunblade+Dragontrigger is going to be.
As for now, I am mostly..confused.
Looks amazing, but very confused - how does the gunblade work? New weapon? Greatsword locked in as second weapon (with a different weapon set)? New form (like shrouds)? Seems distinct from the off-hand pistol and not sure how the concepts fit together.
Edit: formatting, clarification
I'm thinking it might be more similar to [Ryland's Greatsword in that it's a kit you can equip at any time](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Unsheathe_Flamesaw). Looking at the skills used 0:00-0:30 and then the "big attack" at 0:30-0:33 it kind of looks like it's a weapon kit (for lack of a better term) with a burst skill.
This actually would be an elegant way of making Shield/Mace relevant again. Have Mace Mainhand in one of your Weapon Sets and Shield Offhand in another as your utility weapons and then the Gunblade is the main source of damage
^(It's possible it locks it in as your 2nd weapon but I don't think they'd put in something like that just since they gave Eles/Engineers the ability to weapon swap out of combat & revamped the Revenant (prior to release) to have 2 weapon sets.)
Maybe we have bullets? I love the "Holoforge for Warrior"-idea more, but maybe it works like the books from Firebrand? Just with "bullets" instead of pages?
Probably like holo and necro shroud, build adrenaline to wield the gun Saber and use till you deplet. New pistol as off hand or hopefully main hand as the normal weapon.
People (rightly) bash Guardian and Mesmer for being ANet's favorite classes, but Warrior has always been pretty solid. Banner buffs mean they're always desired in teams regardless of how the meta professions are. In fact, before the Berserker buffs, I remember recommending core warrior to new players as a great profession to start on since Warrior is the only other high vitality class and you don't need the expansions to bring banners.
At the end, when you see all the races wielding the weapon, it's always the same gunsaber, while in other videos each character was wielding a different weapon... Maybe the gunsaber is just Bladesworn's F1? (Or, if I want to be too optimistic, they're just showing one weapon skin)
You should note, that the shot at the very end, before they show multiple characters, is sword+pistol. Not the new weapon. Before that shot, the skin always stays the same. I'm guessing like everyone that with F1 you'll change your mode and have new skills 1-5 and some bar which diminishes when you use skills.
So basically that "gunblade" we see it wielding could be the new warrior's adrenaline skill? I imagine it being kinda like the Berserker's but instead of just adding a new burst skill, it will change our weapon skills.
If that will be the case, people lamenting Berserker being unreliable off Berserker's rage cooldown will not be amused. Let's see on Friday.
Bladesworn: Hey look, buddy. I'm a Bladesworn, that means I solve problems.
Not problems like "What is beauty?", 'cause that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy, dabbled in by Virtuosos.
I solve practical problems!
For instance, how am I gonna stop some big mean Mother-Hubbard Willbender from tearin' me a structurally superfluous new behind?
The answer? Use a gun. And if that don't work, use more gun.
I get that the you get a new blade weapon...but the profession is all about guns yet it's called "Bladesworn"?
Don't get me wrong, I love the name, but the profession gets off-hand pistol, a gunsaber, bullet gauntlets and a bullet symbol and it's called BLADEsworn?!
That looks really cool! Warrior basically gets 2 new weapons!
I like how after all the Gunblade talk the VO went "Oh, they get an offhand pistol too" like they forgot.
I don't think the pistol will be instrumental to the spec. You can play Berserker without torch, or Spellbreaker without daggers.
It's likely a mode, like holoforge/shroud/soulbeast, or a weapon kit.
I'm wondering what the new utility skill type they'll get, though. The fact that they called the gunsaber 'Canthan technology' makes me think of something techy. Grenades? Traps? Something new entirely, like Rage or Exceed?
I hope they give us a sword and pistol that each have the aesthetics of the gunsaber, so we can pretend we are combining our weapons when we go into gunsaber mode (rather than pulling it out of our prison pocket).
At some of these charged sheathed attacks you can see 3 glowing rings at the top of the sheath. representing the 3 stages of the adrenalinebar(new source bladesworn's flow)? So depending on how many flow bars you have, these new dragon trigger skills get improved? Longer forward charge, extra projectiles on the big aoe spin. so my guess is besides the normal f1 burst ability the class will get an f2 button like a kit that switches them in and out of gunblade mode. And then and f3-5 button for these draggon triggers. the 3 dragon triggers being the projectile they shoot forward(start of the video), the aoe big spin and the forward rush. looking forward to this new elite spec :D.
P.S. sry for the bad english not native :D
Not sure I like off-hand only pistol, since warrior doesn't have any ranged main-hand weapons, AND warrior was supposed to be able to dual-wield all weapons that could be in either slot.
> AND warrior was supposed to be able to dual-wield all weapons that could be in either slot.
I guess that's Anet's definition of "breaking a class rule"...
While you were studying Cantha I studied the blade Lol - this looks hella fun
"Oh? And what did you study with 'the blade'?" "Gun."
I majored in blade, but minored in gun
And child psychology.
I'm guessing the gunblade is a unique form, like Holoforge / shroud skills. Seems hard to be sure tho.
Yeah. It was funny though the way they started out making it almost seem like they were adding a new weapon. They knew what they were doing :P
I'm not sure many people fell for it. They wouldn't add a new weapon, one that already visually resembles another, for just one class.
Kinda seems like you can just hang out in it forever though, like a kit.
My prediction is the adreneline mechanic is converted to gunblade "ammo", f1 equips the gunblade and consumes ammo for bonus damage or effects, and swapping out with normal weapons and fighting builds the ammo back up?
So kind of like firebrand tomes? I like it.
Probably more like reaper Shroud or Druid's whole mechanic, but with far more uptime
I here you, but a depleting meter takes away from the "limited ammo / cartridges" mindset; that makes me think of charges instead of a meter.

These are cartridges F2 = once adrenaline is full, enter Dragon-Trigger, enabling use of these "magical cartridges" mentioned. You get to use 5 skills before having to build Dragon-Trigger again.
If like this i can already see a trait that take it to 8 catridges.. like more pages for firebrand.
So they get a 3rd weapon set, that is a fixed profession mechanic kit gunsabre?
Just like Holosmith
Looks like the F1 or something is a transform like shroud or holo
Either a third weaponkit or a kit replacing weaponswap
I can't wait to try this one! 😁
I love how its all about the saber, but at the last second "Yeah they also get a pistol. Whatever."
Gunbreaker is that you?
It even uses shells!
So... Adrenaline changes the weapon?
Thats what I'm thinking, especially with the "maintain their flow" comment at the end of the trailer. So it'd be a bit like the Berserker, or as others have said, Necro shroud, ie. you draw your gun blade for new 1-5 skills and maybe it will disable 6-10.

Warrior: ...Bankai!
For some reason even I don't know, this feels so good.
Together with their spellbreaker experience, warriors can now join an elite mercenary force to hunt down sorceresses and protect Garden.
What if Holoforge was even cooler?
Im biased as a Engi main, but Photon forge, is way cooler than this.
Hot rather
I don't like how photon forge throws a yellow tarp over your character model. Looks like you're made out of glowy cheese. I think if it just did the weapons it'd be nicer.
Hey, it turns into a red tarp too.
Not everyone thinks like you though. I find it amazing, regardless of the color scheme. Hell, even just the sounds are more than enough for me.
The number 5 hammer skill in holoforge is orgasmic
hmm no lol
MEMORIES BROKEN THE TRUTH GOES UNSPOKEN I’VE EVEN FORGOTTEN MY NAME
FRUSTRATION IS GROWING BIGGER BANG BANG BANG PULL MY DRAGON TRIGGER oh wait different action game
[*Dragon Install](https://youtu.be/k-mk0mBuYMw) oh wait, different different game
We already know the smell of that game
That sheathed attack is literally the fxcking Jetstream Sam.
A wild *The Only Thing I Know For Real* appears!
I really need to play that game again. It was so fun.
There will be BLOOD - SHED!
HAHA! It is! ... and I don't mind. xD
LET'S DANCE.
It looks like there are at least 3 different sword-drawing moves. The first one sends out a wave projectile in a straight line. The second one is the dash. The third one looks like a leap/shadowstep to the target followed by a big attack in a circle around you
Show me a good time Commander!
So basically Iron Legion saw the (clearly Asuran) holoforge and went: yo we can do this shit better.
Holoforge is (apparently) Elonian. Not that we ever really see Elonians using it but that is the lore
The mentor is right outside Amnoon IIRC.
And he does get into combat when the event near him goes off, and he does use HoloForge.
He is, but he’s the only person in the whole desert with that kind of technology so really he’s as out-of-place as you are.
Just like pretty much every mentor is the only one using their stuff?
Yeah and I don’t like that either, but with magic that’s more believable than with hard-light laser technology. I don’t think we can really be asked to believe that this one guy built his photon forge in a cave from scraps, but that’s the impression the game gives us. Your objections are noted, Director Fury, and have been submitted to the Tyrian Security Council for review.
There aren't even any Elonian weapon skins that fit the Holosmith aesthetic. The ones that best do are, unsurprisingly, Asuran made.
So for the looks of it, the gunsaber is the profession mechanic, not a new weapon because the new weapon for warrior is off-hand pistol. So, is it like Reaper shroud giving Necros a scythe? Could be a disengage skill, when you want a gap between you and the target. Like when the Vindicator uses Gravedigger on you XD
Could be like Warrior's Rifle 4. Evasion with CC.
Yes it feels that they're going to make the gunblade a mode, ala holoforge and reaper shroud, while giving off-hand pistol as the weapon for warrior. I was hoping for dual pistols, oh well.
>So, is it like Reaper shroud giving Necros a scythe? It's like Photon forge or Reaper shroud, yes.

oh no now we have two warrior specs called "BS" panic
Core Warrior, Berserker and Spellbreaker are already all called Banner Slave in LFG though
Then it'll get shortened to BSBS ezpz
sounds like ur trying to whisper something to me
Here, kitty
are you a cat?
Whoever shortens "berserker" to "BS" when it already conflicts with "bannerslave" is an idiot.
I thought BS was Banner Slave.
I thought BS was Scourge, because it's bullshit.
Bullscourge?
barrier scourge
the name implies there's other ways to play scourge aside barrier, you support and give barrier or you apply heavy condi damage and also give barrier
nobody ever calls berserker bs lol, its always bannerslave
True bannerslave is the dominant term for BS but im also an idiot so just equated them :(
does berserker have a short form of BS? the other one is spell-breaker so SB edit: the other BS is a raid short form (Banner Slave)
We can use the Gunbreaker acronym from FF14, GNB
It should have been called a Gunsworn.
Oohh it's "Blade Sworn", I read it as "Blades Worn". Lmao...
When your blades are worn, pull out the guns. Still pretty accurate to the spec.
It was already bad enough that “harbinger”, hypothetically a quickness provider no less, could end up being shortened to “HB”…
Easily shortened to "harb" or something, like "ele" or "engi" are. Not everything winds up as acronyms.
Also our lord and savior the "dudu".
I mostly see hfb abbreviation rather than hb. On a side note, 'qrapper' should really change
I'm guessing the gunsabre mode is like holoforge.
Oh hello Gunbreaker!
Haha, they’re not even trying to be subtle, I love it!
With a little sprinkling of samurai on top.
The tengu made me so happy haha Bought back loads of memories from GW1
This looks amazing 😭
Gunblade... I mean gunsaber.
Bannersworn
Way to tease that currently unobtainable [Vulture's Steel](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vulture%27s_Steel_(skin\)) sword skin.
THERE WILL BE BLOOD **SHED**
THE MAN IN THE MIRROR NODS HIS HEAD
THE ONLY ONE LEFT
WILL RIDE UPON THE DRAGON'S BACK
One thing they did say OH pistol...
yeah, because it's probably a kit or something like that
Looks amazing, but very confused - how does the gunblade work? New weapon? Greatsword locked in as second weapon (with a different weapon set)? New form (like shrouds)? Seems distinct from the off-hand pistol and not sure how the concepts fit together. Edit: formatting, clarification
Probably like Holosmith with a similar overheat mechanic.
Seemed like you have to "charge" the magical ammunition.. I'm betting you have limited uses once going into gunform
Ah, hadn't considered overheat!
I'm thinking it might be more similar to [Ryland's Greatsword in that it's a kit you can equip at any time](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Unsheathe_Flamesaw). Looking at the skills used 0:00-0:30 and then the "big attack" at 0:30-0:33 it kind of looks like it's a weapon kit (for lack of a better term) with a burst skill. instead of overheat its likely ammo based
Maybe we have bullets? I love the "Holoforge for Warrior"-idea more, but maybe it works like the books from Firebrand? Just with "bullets" instead of pages?
I’m assuming it’s a kit or something like that
Looks like it might act similar to Holo changing into that mode
I think so too. And honestly it looks cool.
Probably like holo and necro shroud, build adrenaline to wield the gun Saber and use till you deplet. New pistol as off hand or hopefully main hand as the normal weapon.
They mention at the end it's offhand pistol
Exactly. You build up Adrenaline to enter the mentioned "Calmed State" where you can wield the gunblade.
Imagine playing anything other that warrior. I never doubted this profession :')
Holosmith v2?
Reaper v3. The Holosmith bar is very nearly an inverse Reaper bar
Damn this is better than anything I could have imagined, really excited to get my hands on this.
Warrior + GS is so iconic they thought "why not do it again"? And I'm here for it.
Ff14 gets reaper and gw2 gets gunbreaker. What a time to be alive
Skills: Rough Divide, Fated Circle, Blasting Zone, Revolver Drive Elite Skill: Lionheart Make it happen, anet.
Was hoping it would be a main hand pistol. Not a fan of either of Warrior's current ranged weapons.
Pistol is going to be 900 range at best anyway
Pretty bummed we're not getting mainhand pistols as well. But I'm super excited to try this anyway.
At the end, when you see all the races wielding the weapon, it's always the same gunsaber, while in other videos each character was wielding a different weapon... Maybe the gunsaber is just Bladesworn's F1? (Or, if I want to be too optimistic, they're just showing one weapon skin)
Asumming is going to like holo mode or necro shroud. You enter a mode and have the gunblade
It seems to be their profession mechanic, yes.

If that will be the case, people lamenting Berserker being unreliable off Berserker's rage cooldown will not be amused. Let's see on Friday.
I wonder if it'll be on a timer with adrenaline or if it is essentially a third weapon set.
Now this looks cool
Anyone else feel like the Bladesworn, Vindicator and Virtuoso capture the "master blade work" thematic better than the Willbender does?
Okay so far I think Warrior takes the cake for best spec.
Not very appealing to me. Pretty hard to top berserker and spellbreaker though.
While you were studying the Jade in Cantha I studied the blade. The *anime* blade. \-Weebrior
Bladesworn banner slave.
BSBS
That's some BS.
It looks sick, but as a warrior main i was hoping for viable ranged build
Would be cool if this spec somehow augmented the rifle through traits, along with pistol.
[PULL MY ~~DEVIL~~ DRAGON TRIGGER](https://youtu.be/-WpnPSChVRQ)
Yet another melee spec for warrior? It looks cool and all but i'm a smidge sad.
I wonder how many Thancreds we'll see running around. https://thumbs.gfycat.com/LimpLawfulKakapo-size_restricted.gif
I'll definitely be doing a vague Squall Lionheart impersonation
I prefer [Squall Leonhart](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/a/aa/DFFNT_Squall_Leonhart_Render.png/revision/latest?cb=20180101222047) myself :P
Seriously can't see why this wasnt dual pistols :(
Damm, here I am dying to see the elementalist teaser, one day more untill it. But cool elite anyway, gunsaber looks rad.
Ele main here, I’m super exited 😭 tomorrow can’t come sooner.
I know I'm old as shit when I came in here looking for the FF8 references and instead find only FF14
Looks like the devs have been playing MH lol
That looks really cool! Warrior basically gets 2 new weapons! I like how after all the Gunblade talk the VO went "Oh, they get an offhand pistol too" like they forgot.
I think it's gonna be like MH switchaxe in some way.
This looks SICK!!!
Gunblade spec? Oh hell yes. I was expecting sword/pistol swashbuckler kinda thing, but this is way cooler.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Pull the dragon trigger!
Either like Holosmith holo-forge or Firebrand tomes, I'm guessing. But can only be activated at max adrenaline.
Looks great. Makes sense to have a transformation for when using the gunsaber. And only off-hand pistol, not dual-wield like many thought.
Holy shit. It's actually the Jetstream Sam's sword.
Tengu in the trailer O_o
I'm getting DmC vibes after watching this. And a sudden urge to create warrior.
Can we have gunbreaker? We have gunbreaker at home. /s
I hope they give us a sword and pistol that each have the aesthetics of the gunsaber, so we can pretend we are combining our weapons when we go into gunsaber mode (rather than pulling it out of our prison pocket).
You're really coming out here trying to make me play heavy classes, Anet...
I feel like they make the game look so ugly in these trailers. I looked at the old heart of thorns trailer just to make sure, it looks way better.
Offhand pistol? Ahh. So going from shouthealer to shoothealer.
“I think it’s time I hang my warrior hat. Gun seems uninteresting.” *watches video* “Warrior mains 4 life!”
I can't wait to go back to Echovald forest ^.^
So I guess this is our samurai class. I can live with it and just pretend there isn't a gun attached to my sword lol
I'm sure giving a katana skin to the Vindicator should also feel pretty samurai-ish.
Probabbly cant reskin the gunblade
Gunbreaker + SAM infused together. Yes please.
So...what thieves wanted but for warrior Time to play warrior I guess
Not sure I like off-hand only pistol, since warrior doesn't have any ranged main-hand weapons, AND warrior was supposed to be able to dual-wield all weapons that could be in either slot.
personally I too would have liked to have dual wield pistols.
Seriously, I feel like pistol is getting sidelined for this elite.
> AND warrior was supposed to be able to dual-wield all weapons that could be in either slot. I guess that's Anet's definition of "breaking a class rule"...
Warrior not getting dual wield guns is a crime.
