Curious if there is a fix. I just assume they make noise

Lie_In_Our_Graves

No, my previous Hyundai had racks and they were silent

RamOHig

I think that’s just wind resistance and really not much can be done about it…

Lie_In_Our_Graves

My roof racks on my Sante Fe never made any noise, which is why I’m annoyed.

RamOHig

Different design perhaps?

hillbillygoat

I had that issue with my vw. I found that Thule sold a rubber insert that I could put in the top channel and that quieted it down a bit. I still hear them but not as much

mdneilson

Mine do the same. I just took them off, since they reduce mpg too. I don't use them that much anyway.

NoodleSpooner

I just turn the music louder. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Big_Interview5264

Slow down

frobie192

On a car I had before I ran into this so I bought a fairing and that stopped it. On the OEM(Thule) racks I bought for my Tucson I didn't have anything notable with the channel blocked, without it I could hear it a bit but then when I put my snowboard racks on it got really loud which is expected and I get used to it quickly.

Hutch1814

My work can use to do this. I put spray foam in the rungs I’d my ladders and took care of it. Obviously I wouldn’t do that to a new Tucson but maybe some inserts in the ends might help?

davesnotonreddit

Maybe get a wind fairing ? https://www.amazon.com/Bikegear-Universal-Windshield-Fairing-Racks/dp/B09XMGMT21/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=wind+fairing+roof+rack&qid=1672893678&sr=8-1-spons&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18ed3cb5-28d5-4975-8bc7-93deae8f9840&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzOEdNM0pVQzE0OTRBJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjEzMjc2MzJZVFZGWExWUUJZOSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUExMDI2MjA3M1VPUFFKNlE3S1REQyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX3Bob25lX3NlYXJjaF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl

Lie_In_Our_Graves

Thank you! I always wondered what these were for! 47 years old and never had this issue before. Thanks again!

davesnotonreddit

Good luck! Btw- this is random- is your username a Dave Matthews reference ?

Lie_In_Our_Graves

I installed the Yakima’s today. Thanks for your help, my brother!

davesnotonreddit

I hope it’s what you’re looking for! Any pics?

Lie_In_Our_Graves

I’ll snap one this morning. And you can tell me if I installed it correctly. Actually, I’ll probably create a new thread and I’ll credit you for the advice. Thanks bro

Lie_In_Our_Graves

Indeed it is. It’s a mantra a live by! Do everything you can while you can.

Must-Love-Danger

If you have glass roof just close the shade. It helps reduce noise.

LakeLifeTL

Never had this issue with our 2022 SEL Convenience.

lochnessie

Maybe double check that the crossbars are installed the right direction? They sometimes have small ridges on the leading edges that can help disrupt the airflow over their profile. I bought a 3rd-party rack and it had little stickers that showed which was the front of the bar.

Ghorardim71

your fuel economy will crush anyway at 80mph

madhew2

Same thing for mine! I moved mine back a smidge and it stopped whistling. Not all the way quiet but at least the whistling is gone

Lie_In_Our_Graves

I adjusted mine but no luck. I’m going to buy a flair guard as they seem to solve the issue.

fastness2020

checked my roof racks, found the end plugs were loss. if that plug was loss, that hole could sound like a whistle

Lie_In_Our_Graves

I did buy a wind fair, if that doesn’t work, I’ll plug the end caps. Thanks for helping me out!
