*When is Veer gonna get to the fireworks factory!?*
I have been watching pro-wrestling since 1991 and I just learned something new while reading Moxley's book.
There's a dude who is under the ring on all WWE TV. He's in charge of making sure all of the weapons are in the right place and apparently he's responsible for the breakaway announce tables.
Wait, are you for real?
Yup. The guy's name is Nick Daw. According to Moxley, Daw tightens cables, makes on-the-fly repairs as needed, organizes the weapons and props stored under the ring, and is in charge of rigging the announce table to break apart like it does. He has a monitor under the ring and a headset that goes directly to Gorilla for instructions.
That's probably a safe assumption.
I’m curious of his position title. Plunder attendant?
A quick social media search reveals his title is Ring Manager.
I’m a little letdown by that tbh lol
Bengals are the only baby face team remaining in the playoffs. Hope they beat the LOLCHIEFSWIN
How are the Niners heels. Outside of Bosa?
They were in the super bowl a couple years ago and were favorited this year to go far in the playoffs at the beginning of the season but underperformed this year
How does that make them heels though?
Kylie Rae vs Masha Slamovich vs Nicole Savoy vs Rachel Ellering was just announced for West Coast Pro Wrestling’s “Art of Drowning” on February 11th.
That show is going to be insane.
Savoy deserves to be signed by a company that will let her wrestle her signature style.
It's strange. Meltzer personally recommended her to AEW when they started. You think that would be enough to get her signed. She also did that tag tournament. My theory that she either doesn't want to sign with any promotion OR she's been holding out for WWE.
I am really surprised Impact hasn’t signed her. Especially with a lot of their recent female signings, she’d be a great fit for the Knockouts division.
Savoy vs Jordynne Grace or Deonna Purrazzo would be money matches.
So would Savoy vs. Deeb, Rosa, Shida.
somebody just found the dude who runs the BTSportWWE twitter account is an scjerk poster who has a history of using the n-word
The faction of Dante, Sydal, Moriarty, and Lethal shall henceforth be known as the Flippy Bois.
Sorry, I don't make the rules.
Does Lee flip?
Not really, and neither does Lethal; he's the diametric opposite of a 'flippy bois'. A better name would be The Outsiders.
For everyone’s viewing pleasure [trios match getting the “Go Home” call](https://streamable.com/t/k8pq0k) from GCW the WRLD.
Are you sure they said go home? I think I heard "go five minutes longer"
Considering they slapped another 5-6 minutes on, maybe, but i hear “Guys you *gotta* go home.”
At the show I was doing commentary at this past Saturday one of the matches was supposed to go 15 minutes. At the 14:30 mark they weren't even close to getting towards the finish so my commentary partner who is also the ring announcer stands up and just starts twirling his hand like Jake would do when he was signaling for the DDT.
I watched The Accountant finally after seeing the ending however many times. It was actually really good. I remember reading spoilers on The AV Club back when it was released so some of the twists I was aware of. Having a good idea what was going to happen didn't make it any less entertaining though which is cool.
r/askreddit: what movie had the least accurate depiction of your profession?
Them: I'm an accountant, not a killing machine.
Me: Not with THAT attitude!
Might have to do that myself. Was thinking of having a movie marathon with my wrestling group where we watch the pre-Dynamite movies.
If Bonds doesn't get in the hall I'm done with MLB
So you're OK with him cheating with steroids?
He was hall of fame before the steroids stuff.
Operative word: before.
The hall of fame has neither the all time hits leader nor the all time home runs leader... Nice hall you've got there, BBWAA.
It's time for them to let that Pete Rose shit go. He wasn't throwing games or point shaving so I don't care that he was betting.
I was hoping that they were just waiting for him to die, so he didn't get the satisfaction, but it's ridiculous. He was a better player than more than half of the guys in there.
Not sure if it’s changed since I was a kid watching baseball in the late 90s but it was always strange seeing official MLB books and documentaries where the Big Red Machine’s era was glossed over like the deadball era and the war seasons with replacement players because it’s impossible to talk about those teams without making Rose a focal point.
non wrestling related. But that chiefs vs bills game on sunday was fucking nuta
Good for Seth rolling mentioning mox
I’d have preferred him to be cartwheeling, but each to their own.
I'm actually shocked noone is talking about it but Austin Theory and AJ put on an early Match Of The Year candidate last night. What a banger.
-Rumble season is always so fun but sometimes, some of the fun can be taken away because the winners seem really predictable. This year, to me at least, I genuinely can't think of a single person that seems likeliest to win either Rumble. It makes it a little more exciting for me and I really love heading into the show genuinely not knowing who could win.
-I really hope Asuka comes back. Seems like a good time. I don't fully expect her to win but I hope whoever throws her out is her next feud and she can finally get her WrestleMania win that she deserves.
-What are the odds that we get all of >!Ciampa, Dunne, Knight, GUNTHER!< in the Rumble? Surely it can't be all of them, no? There's only like 5 wrestlers from SmackDown announced for the Rumble. Even then, I hope to see at least one of them, especially the ones that haven't been in a Rumble yet.
Whenever someone re-signs with WWE, there’s always a few people who go, “I have no sympathy for them.”
What makes you think they want your sympathy? If they’re happy, I’m sure they don’t care about not being a John Cena level star.
Yea, motivated and openly happy Brock is a sight to see. Im stoked hes allowed to show this side of him for this run. I'm a disgustingly huge Roman fan, but you can tell those wheels are spinning and they need to do something that forces character development.
Seth is gaining momentum too and could very well be the next "carrying the shows on his back" depending how WWE treats him the upcoming months.
Roman and Brock are carrying the company
Too bad he's such a selfish asshole people are sick of him and wondering why he's still with goldust's ex-wife instead of stealing somebody else's.
He's the kind of guy driven by envy: if you have something, he wants it.
Edit: and he shoulda laid down for the undertaker and let him retire the wm streak undefeated.
I don't like Brock and even I think you sound nuts.
When was Sable married to Golddust?
What is it with people jumping on Cole's physique the past few months?
What you mean? What’s being said?
Cole leaving WWE willingly has absolutely broken people's brains. This week is going to a literal and mental bloodbath when Cole starts doing some gory self-mutilation.
I don't think he'll gig. At the PPV I'm almost certain he did fake blood
Adam Cole is trained by Combat Zone Wrestling. He's is 1000% going to blade and bleed buckets.
My most unpopular opinion I could possibly ever have is that Cole's last NXT theme > his AEW theme
It's been around 8 months since I last had alcohol or meat. Turns out both were making me sick(er).
Where do i put my 11.99?
It's for a website that doesn't have a great reputation here, unfortunately. Whether I can help turn that around or not remains to be seen, but I'll be an editor, not a writer, so I'll do what I can. I'm just excited to take my first step into the industry.
Lean into it. Clicks>>>credibility. Journalism is a work.
Ah fair enough, best of luck friend, hopefully big things coming.
I still haven't been able to hear Bully's comments about Mox. Anyone have a link?
Don’t give him the attention
Having a spinal surgery consult this morning. I already apologized to Bully Ray for being late to work.
Good luck with everything
I tried to watch RAW last night, but couldn't make it an hour. I tuned out after the Alpha Academy/RKBro stuff(so glad they're still together, Otis without a beard still haunts my nightmares)
I hadn't watched really any WWE in like 5 months, figured I'd tune in before the Rumble. Also, JOHNNY KNOXVILLE IS IN THE ROYAL RUMBLE? Why? Why didn't I fucking hear about this???
Is there no way of knowing who sends these reddit cares stuff? WHAT AM I DOING TO YALL
Just reply Stop
I think there's a link you can click in that message that makes it so you never get another one again. Clicked it months ago and haven't been bothered once.
it's all sockpuppets anyways, wouldn't make a difference
it's so sad that people are so wrapped up in reddit they set up multiple accounts just to get at people who critique their favorite show.
I think that's the silliest part of the whole thing- I have no way of knowing what comment set the person off.
If you are blocked by someone are you still able to see their posts? I was trying to reply to a comment and it kept saying I'm unable to be a part of the discussion and when I clicked on the users name it showed no posts or comments.
Yeah, it just prevents interaction but you can still read their posts. It works the other way around too, try blocking someone and it'll happen the same. It seems totally useless.
I mean I'm pretty sure someone in here has me blocked. And if they post something discussion worthy, I can't reply to it which sucks. Blocking people over opinions is crazy to me.
Ok, I got one of those RedditCares messages. Don't know why. Didn't need it. Whether it had anything to do with this sub or others, I don't know. End of story.
I think it's virtually a given that LA Knight will be in the Rumble, after seeing that video (inc. the silent cameo by Roderick Strong). Beyond that? We'll see if there's any story progression between him and Grayson Waller tonight.
Edge & Beth busted out a Hart Attack and a 3D on those rent-a-jobbers? Cray-cray, man.
PSA to any wrestling fans attending shows in the future - Please be respectful and mindful of the other fans around you.
The large group of fans that brought the "If Cardona Wins We Riot" sign at GCW were some of the worst and most selfish fans I've encountered at a show and I've been to hundreds of wrestling shows all over the world in the last 20+ years. They were standing up the whole time and clinging to the balcony barricade for most of the night with no regard for anyone around them. This blocked that entire section's view. To top it off, none of them wore a mask.
Luckily I was sitting front row balcony about 10 feet away from them. But I felt terrible for everyone sitting behind them. They could not see shit. It got to a point where the fans were screaming and begging at them to sit down and they still wouldn't. Security wouldn't do shit. They couldn't be bothered.
People have been stuck home because of this pandemic. All sorts of events have been canceled. Now that shows are coming back, people are desperate to just get out and have a fun night out during this awful time period. The least you could do is be mindful of that. Had those obnoxious fans just sat the fuck down in their chairs, they would have still seen everything in front of them and they still would have had fun. And everyone behind them would have as well.
If you're going to a show, please don't be selfish. Please don't try to get yourself over. Just enjoy the show, and let others around you enjoy it too.
I agree with everything you said but the unfortunate truth is that nobody who acts like this is going to read this and act better.
It sucks but you get these kinds of jerkoffs at every sporting event and it’s never going to be better.
Were masks mandated at the event ?
Fuck that i paid for my ticket!
One last thing, I wouldn’t be shocked at all if Lita does a few matches here and there, kind of like what Edge and probably what Beth will end up doing
Agreed. Since it's gotten out that Lita was in negotiations with AEW before signing on for the Rumble, I'd say Vince might use her to put some of the newer women over.
Also I think it’s partially for to Lita wanting something to do. Even though she lives in San Francisco on her own, maybe she’s just bored and wants to do something.
Just a reminder, if you have no idea how ratings work please don’t act like you know shit. Half of y’all are embarrassing yourselves bragging about “your show” when y’all have no idea what you’re talking about
I'm so behind on wrestling at the moment due to working late shifts the last two weeks. I need to watch the NJPW vs NOAH show, last weeks Rampage and GCW the WRlD.
That brass ring ladder match on The WRLD is even worse on a rewatch.
The trios match being right after really puts it to shame.
And I didn't catch the pre-show but didn't that also have a battle royale spotfest too?
Yes with some huge guests like Psycho Clown and Thunder Rosa, which was followed by a six way and then a speech from Lauderdale.
I watched G-Raver nearly legitimately die twice within the span of a couple of minutes. That match was rough…
G-Raver ignoring the brass ring for a suicide dive where he used the ring to steady himself was the dumbest spot I've seen in a long time.
I'm flummoxed at people who thought Anna Jay Vs Jade Cargill was actually good.
It was better than an Okada classic.
Jade has had worse matches by far, and I actually like her as well - The one with Anna Jay was "good", not going to win any awards but it was a decent watch and the crowd were into it as well.
I liked the match. Be flummoxed at me, I can take it
Sometimes, when people have certain opinions, it can be really surprising to find out a huge amount of other people have very different opinions.
Of course, the easiest way for this to happen is for the person to have incorrect opinions.
It was though.
> Tony Kahn
Not at all. I'm basically taking the piss. Match still wasn't very good.
What wasn't good about it? What were your complaints with it?
It was good.
Yesterday all I said was that AJ Styles was a Top 5 wrestler in the world, and that the match between him and Austin Theory was good. Then someone reported me to Reddit care resources?
What the fuck is wrong with some people? Like why are you abusing a feature made to help out people with depression? because some random dude has a different wrestling opinion on Reddit than you?
Do you want these to stop? If so never mention receiving them. Report them, block the bot and downvote every single post you see about them. People are using these to troll because it is anonymous and clearly successful. If you report it they aren't anonymous to the admins and if you don't post and downvote posts about them they won't get the reaction the troll wants.
This post just encourages more of them.
I think we're probably dealing with a troll.
Dude, that’s nothing. Post literally anything on ZFF and you’ll get 10
I got about 5 before blocking the bot for calling out people straight up lying about shit there and on scjerk.
Does that random guy still go round PM'ing people "not to talk shit about WWE" or something? I had one a year or so ago, and others said the same as well.
Not to my knowledge, but there was one guy recently doing that with AEW
Just found out that Russian deathmatches exist. Haven't jumped down that rabbit hole yet, but I expect it to be pretty fucking wild.
Babushka takes no prisoners.
I'm probably not voting for Rossy Ogawa for the Wrestling Observer Hall Of Fame next year. He's had a good career but it's not close to Hall Of Fame worthy.
I expect that the main case for him to go into the Hall Of Fame will be "he was the guy behind 90's AJW," which is debatable. He was a booker but he was also a part of a larger machine in that company. And even if someone wants to give him 100% credit, that actually hurts his case in the eyes of anyone that is really familiar with 90's AJW beyond just the greatest hits. Late 70's and mid 80's AJW were more popular than 90's AJW, and 90's AJW went up in flames in a collapse that rivals WCW's collapse. Warning about the very skewed Wrestling Observer bias towards 90's AJW on this one. That company has a lot of history that gets glossed over.
Arsion was a very interesting company but GAEA was more important in that era and ultimately the company failed under the weight of poor management and the industry around it almost dying. I don't even think Rossy Ogawa himself would count it as a positive in the overall POV.
Post Arsion and pre-Stardom Rossy produced or helped produced a bunch of different projects. At the period the Joshi scene was fairly small so none of that is really historically significant enough.
Really, the actual strongest case for Rossy Ogawa in the Hall Of Fame is current Stardom. Stardom didn't become to the top Joshi company until the had the resources of Bushiroad behind it to promote the company and expand the roster. They were outdrawn by other companies before that. It's a very short period of big success for the company so far.
Considering how hard it is for non-Wrestlers to get Hall Of Fame votes, I'm not even sure why Rossy is going to be considered. And I say that as someone who is a big fan of Stardom's wrestling.
I think Ogawa's legacy and importance for the industry will be more noticeable in like 10 years when Stardom reaches its full potential. It's hard to judge it now because Stardom is still very niche but if he leaves the company as the #2 in Japan and with this level of momentum, I think he'll undoubtly deserve that recognition. Sure, Stardom could only get to where it is today thanks to Bushiroad, but Ogawa is still running the company in the most important aspect and it hasn't changed significantly, so I think the only thing that has always prevented Stardom from getting huge has been mostly not having strong backing. Ogawa has been making new stars pretty much every year and that has kept the company afloat for so long despite all their setbacks. Maybe he's not the greatest booker but I do think he's one of the most successful in modern wrestling given the resources and limitations he's had.
Do you think Colt is one of the people whose contract they'll just let run out? I feel like they barely use him anymore.
Doesn't he have a while to go? Feels like the ones running out are day 1 folks.
They stopped using Colt when Cm Punk joined after a while.
Did I imagine his Bryan Danielson match in Chicago?
Not true at all
I just read Muhammad Hassan's wiki page. He was 23 years old during that entire 7 month run on television. He worked with Foley, Lawler, Benoit, Jericho, HBK, Hogan, Stone Cold, Both Champions Batista and Cena, Big Show and Undertaker.
He played a character given to him so well in angles written for him, that he got fired by both the television network and the WWE for something he had no say in or control of. And retired soon after from wrestling before he even turned 24. Incredible.
Today, he's a junior high school principal.
Still making good money.
Prolly cuts a fire pep assembly promo.
I’d lose my mind if he still came out to take assembly to his old entrance music accompanied by Daivari
One of the best examples of WWE just completely fucking someone.
And a great example, much like Bray Wyatt, of the writers totally perverting the original idea/gimmick of someone so they could do some dumbass angles no one liked.
I've been watching Raw from February 1997, just before and after IYH: Final Four. The more old wrestling I watch, the more modern criticism seems like nonsense. Just in the few shows I watched, there was leg slapping from Owen Hart, suicide dives, more than one top rope dive to people catching the person on the outside, and every single piledriver was kicked out of.
Dude the attitude era was LOUSY with piledrivers. You get one in pretty much every PPV match and they're never a finish.
There’s so much “back in my day” nonsense you see people complaining about now that you can still see then. There’s so much shitty wrestling back in 80s/90s.
Also, I’ll just say it now, the Knicks season over.
There is absolutely no fucking way they make the playoffs.
Leon Rose has A LOT of work to do in the offseason.
Hey now they're only two games under .500, sure there have to be some winnable games the rest of the....*looks at Knicks schedule*
Oh. Oh God
In brighter news at least RJ finally realized he has a right hand. But yeah Julius is a fraud.
RJ is doing well right now and that’s the beacon oh hope. Julius is done, we have to get rid of him in the summer.
I'm still amazed that sign about Zelina didn't get confiscated by security.
Dare I ask?
"Queen Zelina, use my face as your throne"
Guy was right on the Ramp so you couldn't miss it during her entrance.
Security prolly agreed with the sentiment tbh.
At an NXT/Takeover once, a girl had a "Face fuck me, Finn" sign that was very visible the entire show.
Yeah, she's a classic.
The Kings of the Black Throne about to pay that 'throne' a visit.
New dream match/feud: Current Brock Lesnar with Paul Heyman vs Kenny Omega with Don Callis.
The feud would be both hilarious and intense and the match itself could be fantastic.
The meltdowns that will ensue when Ronda eliminates Bianca in the rumble. The “let it play out” fans will take a huge L.
Interested to see how Ronda as a face again will go. We saw how downhill it went last time. 💀
I'm actually gonna give WWE (or at least Ronda) the benefit of the doubt that there's no way Rousey comes back as a face. They either do another Triple Threat with Bianca or Becky will turn.
Come on don't manifest shit like this first thing in the morning :(
When do the let it play out guys not take a L lol
That’s not bad enough.
Ronda eliminates Bianca, Becky, Shotzi, and a debiting main roster Io Shirai. Then Ronda gets eliminated by Charlotte Flair the only two time women’s Rumble winner.
Then the following Monday Vince renames her “Io” and gives her a geisha gimmick.
I know it isn't, but that gif looks like it gets faster and faster
As a recovering alcoholic it amazes me that people love that Jon Moxley promo so much.
As a recovering alcoholic it hit me in the heart and made me tear up
While his personal demon may be alcohol, it's a promo about overcoming your problems and never laying down to die which is a pretty universal idea.
In a good way, or..?
Eh it’s a fine promo, just didn’t do anything for me, but the “I’m a baby face and I’m back!” promo never did.
I’m happy people liked it, and I’m happy for Jon and anyone who gets the help they need. Love his wrestling.
Just curious, do you think there's something specific he should've said or done or anything he should've left out?
APOLOGIZE...^(for being such a good wrestler)
Man when Omicron peaks it fucking drops like a rock
I’m perfectly okay with Ronda returning for another run
There's a big Ronda hate that I just dont understand at all.
At the moment, her return is potentially derailing a match that people think should happen in Lynch/Belair, which I get. It's almost the same situation as Bryan/Batista at Rumble '14.
I get hate actually and I understand why she’s not liked these days (let alone years ago), but at the same time, as long as I get good matches and feuds I personally don’t care.
She's a terrible person.
You're probably supporting worse every single day.
Does that mean I should be happy with more? I can tolerate Jericho and still be against AEW bringing in like, Flip Gordon.
Same. I'd have to assume she'll be better prepared for what to expect, especially from the crowd, this time around. I look forward to it.
I have to imagine she’ll be ready this time. I actually liked her as a heel even though it lasted a total of around two months.
[Hangman replies to Punk's tweet](https://twitter.com/theAdamPage/status/1485968583880585225?t=dE_sqW4sWVbSzOq7iBL8Xw&s=19)
I have always said and will continue to say it... this man should hold the title forever.
Not biased at all.
He's just the best.
Random thought cm punk losing the big Gold belt was strange each occasion, 1st time Randy Orton and legacy took him out backstage so Punk didn't even lose it in a match rather Jericho took his place in the scramble, 2nd time was against Taker in the cell but the bizarre part being the match clocked in at only 10 minutes
Match with Taker was cut short so he could preside over court.
I just remembered that, at the last Daily's Dynamite, TK promised to send HOOK next time they were in town, since he wasn't on the card that day.
I'm disappointed as hell since I'll be missing out, due to work. Oh well. Maybe next time.
People should really check out the AJPW Triple Crown Title tournament. All 3 matches are really good, especially Ashino vs Honda. Full disclosure I had never seen Honda before but he's fucking AWESOME. Kento doing Super-Kento stuff is annoying but he's a good fun wrestler, just booked way too strong and kicks out/no-sells too much stuff.
What songs are you listening to lately?
Aurora's new album is beautiful.
I'd reccomend Tokio Myers and Madalen Duke, they're both great. Tokio especially, been a massive fan of his since BGT. He's what I think of as the definition of "artist". Deserves more recognition, surprised he hasn't landed a role for a Hollywood movie soundtrack or similar. Love his stuff.
I'm still obsessed with Shiina Ringo. Her albums Shouso Strip and Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana are masterpieces.
A great American band that's on the rise is The Marias. Ruthless, Only In My Dreams and their cover of Baby One More Time are among their best songs.
Carino is by far and away their best song imo
My buddy just introduced me to Salem. Giving me those Alkaline Trio goth punk vibes that I love so much. Also been replaying a lot of the new Vein.fm song.
I went through Tha Carter's and II is such a good album, the rest have highlights.
Also a lot of Griselda, La Maquina and Bo Jackson are incredible albums.
I've been trying to diversify my listening and have been listening to IDLES, Ween, Failure, Teddy Pendergrass, and radio based on Sinead O' Connor. Have had POORSTACY on and even though there's lots of chatter about them being industry plants I've been loving them.
-Insomnia really sucks.
-You know what else sucks? Cardio. I wish I had an elliptical instead of a treadmill at least. But alas…
-Really hope Asuka comes back at the Rumble.
-With Ciampa, Roddy, Dunne, and Knight seemingly going to the main roster, I know the easy thing is gloom and doom, and don’t get me wrong I tend to be all about that, but I really just hope they thrive and do well.
I worry about Roddy. He's GREAT in ring, but as a character he's sort of...meh (though if this means 10-15 minute filler matches with, say, Cesaro, then sign me up).
there were some solid matches on raw last night, austin theory looked great. i’m excited for the rumble saturday
oh and the spelling bee 😂 chad gable put on a show and got some serious heat!!
Loved his reaction to "Scooter race", just him falling back into the abyss 😂
