What’s the best way to report these issues during navigation as it only gives the options for navigation directions when reporting?

01111010t

after you finish navigating you can report an issue, select navigation, it'll give you a selection of your last navigation(s) it relates to, then fill in the details/provide screen shots of the issue, submit.

ThisGuyNeoji

But what if the stop sign isn’t related to the list of directions? How are you supposed to report that? If you go straight on a road with a wrong stop sign, it doesn’t appear in the list of reportable navigations at the end of your drive.

i dropped a pin where the stop sign was appear and submitted the link to that pin along with a screen shot of the stop sign in the navigation with the report.

There is a very short turn off there to a rest area and there IS a stop sign that must have been picked up by the camera. It looks greyed out in LookAround since the rest area roads are not part of look around. It happens sometimes with adjacent roads or bike paths that the AI has a difficult time discerning which road the stop sign is for. A simple and quick correction request to Apple and it should be fixed in less than a week typically.

I originally thought it was that stop sign by the rest area, but I noticed the stop sign stayed on my route for several hundred feet past that intersection. It only vanished when I passed the yield sign, which I consider the more likely culprit, since unlike the rest area stop sign, it faces the eastbound parkway traffic with no other road approach it could be assigned to by an AI.

Report it.

I'm waiting until iOS 15 for better reporting options. The better I can directly link the report to this stop sign (rather than a general area or intermediate step in routing directions), the less human intervention will be needed on Apple's side to fix this. Because when a person needs to take action on their end, it takes months instead of days it seems.

THendriXon

Noticed a few of these random stop signs in my area too. Anyone know if there’s a preferred method using “report an issue” for this?

THendriXon

Yeah, I use it pretty often. There isn’t a very good method of pinpointing a specific stop sign that I’m aware of though. I guess you can use the report an issue with navigation and explicitly describe where the offending stop sign is. If you can remember where it is, that is, since they’re only shown on the map during navigation

01111010t

i replicated your route and submitted a error report with screen shot as well.

THendriXon

You probably meant to respond to OP. You use report an issue with navigation then?

something something coffee needed something something.

There are bike paths that run along the road around me. the bike paths have small stop signs on them, but they show up like this on the road as well.

This is fairly common around New York City. It's clear that the traffic light/stop sign info is pulled automatically from the cameras on the Apple Maps cars. Probably through some sort of AI algorithm. At some intersections, if the intersecting road is at an odd angle which makes the stop sign somewhat visible from the main road, sometimes the camera picks it up and displays it on the map. In other instances, the camera picks up a red colored sign, such as a "No Standing Anytime" parking regulation sign, and believes it to be a stop sign.

reader_reddit

Yeah, I'm almost certain it picked up the yield sign from the second screenshot. It lines up with the exact location on the map (well past the stop sign near the rest area for getting onto the parkway).

Devz0r

With that traffic there might as well be one😂

reader_reddit

Ha. Guess Apple took the saying "You stop and go on the Belt" quite literally.
