Do you ever think, "isn't it time someone do something!?!?"
This is the time.
We are the someone.
The thing? We break into the spiders house at night and beat the shit out of him.
Edit; you in?!

Spiders can use silk to hang from without being web building spiders, I think. There are like 10 types of silk total, with some species having up to 8.
Are you kidding me? This spider worked so hard learning a language different than his own to better communicate and you are going to quibble because he chose one word poorly. Such a Reddit move…and that’s the real stereotype.
I discovered yesterday that two completely unconnected sets of friend also call their gay uncles “guncles” and so I’m pretty sure this is just how English works now.
I think the creator is referring to the fact that only about half of all spider species make webs. But tbh, it's still not a stereotype, just an inaccurate generalization. And the human was making a joke, anyway.
I agree. "You prick" is cringe and makes it clear the author couldn't come up with an actually funny punchline. A text-free fourth panel would be a marginal improvement because it would become understated.
Bots mostly. They upvote anything that gets an initial bump in r/new. Then more people see that it's getting attention and assume it must be good because "their peers" approved it and upvote it higher.
I thought the boomers had come here after the great Facebook exodus. r/funny has taken a nosedive in content in the last few years.
The other posts these days are just tik-tok cringe too. Sad times.
Here’s a [really interesting YouTube video](https://youtu.be/oVlspd9hxFA) on zoomer humour. I actually really respect the concept of it, but I’m a bit peeved that It’s so esoteric and unrelateable to me (because I haven’t been subjected to the same memes as them).
Irony has defined that generation, like cynicism defined millenials, or puns and satire defined boomers.
Thank you for that vid. I had to turn it off halfway through. I was not understanding any of the explanations. “The fact that it’s not funny means it’s inherently funny” just does not compute for me. But I appreciate the effort.
Children I think. There are a lot of 14 year olds here that have grown up with iPad in hand that have short attention spans, and have done the whole "scroll scroll scroll heh scroll scroll" style of bite sized entertainment their whole lives.
Those folks love 4 panel comics even if they're mediocre, because it caters to the way they've lived there entire lives.
And why can't it be both?
To you (a human, after all) it's a pun and maybe you (as well as jeremy) would make this comment to the gentle spider... Know that this spider may be a web developer by nature, but it has dreams! may want to sing, play the piano, hunt hobbits, tap dance or, why not, web developer but for personal interest!
End your stereotypes!
Edit: I refuse to justify the sarcastic tone.
I get it, but I don't "get" it.
How is web developer a stereotype? He's hanging from a strand of webbing. He's a spider.
It's like two halves of two different jokes ~~masked~~ mashed together. It doesn't really make sense. The punchline is also just the spider being an asshole in response to a pun (which still isn't a stereotype).
pretty common to see stuff like this on here, or the jokes sub.
people who don't understand joke writing think of a funny punchline and then try to write it backwards.
in this case the punchline is a dud as well so I dunno. i'd encourage OP to keep studying and trying though.
Any spider experts here? Not all spiders build webs and some produce silk without building webs. Do non-web-building spiders sometimes hang down from strings of silk like this one?
ALL spiders can make webbing and almost all, even those that don't make webs use anchor lines and will dangle from from a web line. Tarantulas and other large spiders being the few that won't because they're too heavy.
Now a jumping spider for instance won't purposely dangle from an anchor line. But when it screws up a jump or slips it will definitely hang from a silk thread. So that's not indicative of being a web builder.
Jesus Christ, we’re all just okay being depressed. There’s no hope, the government/politicians won and broke everyone and there wasn’t even a fight lol
it would have been better if the spider also had something funny as a response.
That's...not even a zinger.
A better retort from the spider: "Oh! How observant! Do you work in Artificial Intelligence?"
Oh. Ok. Is it just more talked about in the open in the US. In SE Asia I never hear about it.
Edit: wow according to this study[0] it's more common in SE Asian, I must live under a rock.
[0] https://www.statista.com/statistics/981372/distribution-of-depression-globally-by-who-region/
Im no expert in this but i really dont know how these statistics can be accurate. Intuitively i would say that there are a lot of cases which are not diagnosed and therefore not in these statistics.
But its great to see a redditor who actually investigates and then changes his/her opinion. Thats exactly how it should be. Progress through dialog.
Or maybe the creator didn't put enough thought into it...
If we only process one half of the mish mash of the two different jokes at a time, it's fine. It's when you put them together that it doesn't work and makes you overthink it.
But the spider is a web developer and the human does look depressed, stereotypes are what they are for a reason if all so am so are alike that’s their culture, but obviously we are all individuals and with that all kinds of variables, stereotypes are fine but when you make assumptions you risk making an ass out of yourself.
Stereotypes can be funny to certain people to that certain race. If it is a excuse to not make friends or talk to that race thats where I cross the line. (racism)

That's not even a stereotype, just a joke. The spider is the real prick.
Do you ever think, "isn't it time someone do something!?!?" This is the time. We are the someone. The thing? We break into the spiders house at night and beat the shit out of him. Edit; you in?!
I'm gonna wait for him to finish building a web, then I'll walk through it and go "ew!" and vacuum it.
[удалено]
That's racist!
***Specieist*
Phylumist! />8< Spider Pride!
No, just break a few of the strings that support it so it’s all limp and broken. That piece of shit can clean it up himself.
Just spray lubricant on his web and observe.
Of all the things I wouldn't want in my house, "lubricated spiders" seems like it should be on the list.
You should walk through it and then say "Hey, your page is broken."
One thing Jesus is not is fat a fat Jesus is sacrilegious
Neither of those are stereotypes though!!!
Why do I have a feeling you're just a bunch of bees in a trenchcoat.
Oglaf. 8 legs of love.
What the fuck bro?
Im in
Maybe the creator confuses puns with stereotypes?
What you think all comic artists are stupid? Not a very good pun on your part.
But I mean, he got the human sterotype right ...
Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?
> pretty common to see stuff like this on here, or the jokes sub. > > people who don't understand joke writing think of a funny punchline and then try to write it backwards. > > in this case the punchline is a dud as well so I dunno. i'd encourage OP to keep studying and trying though.
Oh, a human. Are you depressed? If you are I hope your life gets better!
Not all spiders build webs. So I guess you could consider a web-building joke to be sterotyping the spider if you've never seen it build a web.
Except it's on the end of a web.
Spiders can use silk to hang from without being web building spiders, I think. There are like 10 types of silk total, with some species having up to 8.
That's just a string. But I don't know enough about spiders to say whether non-web-building spiders use string to move up and down places.
I recently saw a jumping spider coming down from the ceiling with their silk string so I'm pretty sure they do.
Thanks for letting me know. This thread is another instance of uneducated people acting like they know everything.
So, it's holding on to a string with its ass? None of the legs are holding on.
Ah, the [Tarzan.](https://www.reddit.com/r/theydidthemath/comments/c588mm/request_how_hard_tarzan_have_to_clench_his/)
*A string of silk. So picky.
Typical spider
Dude is developing web as he speaks. It's not a stereotype, it's an assessment of reality
Depression is the most common illness for human at the moment
And spiders are laughing about it.
This is why a lot of people enjoy ruining or ending a spider’s life
> just a joke I wouldn't go that far.
Jokes don't have to be good.
How do you know what stereotypes spiders have for humans?
Came here to say this.
It's just depressed.
Spiders are better as testers than developers, they really love finding bugs
Assert fail, no tester love their job.
sunnuvabetch
Web developer isn't a stereotype, it's a pun.
Neither of those are stereotypes though.
Presumably in spider world there's a stereotype all humans are depressed. But web developer is definitely not a stereotype!
Is it a stereotype if some spiders don't make webs?
Maybe could be, but this one is literally hanging by a web
Not all web shiters are web developers. Please stop stereotyping.
Maybe he’s web-sitting for a friend
If they were true then they'd be holding onto the web by their legs, which their not.
So is it ok to find someone doing something stereotypical and then bluster on about it? You wouldn't download a toaster?
Are you kidding me? This spider worked so hard learning a language different than his own to better communicate and you are going to quibble because he chose one word poorly. Such a Reddit move…and that’s the real stereotype.
The spider did continue his career as a web developer and Jeremy now lives in his mom's basement with three other spiders.

Maybe Jeremy is Gay
Geremy
Bruh why you getting downvoted
I discovered yesterday that two completely unconnected sets of friend also call their gay uncles “guncles” and so I’m pretty sure this is just how English works now.

Get the shoe, Jeremy
This site is making me hate comics.
The comics that are posted are so awful I honestly mute the posters once I see a terrible comic from the account. Like this one.
Amen to that.
this makes no sense, what the human said wasn't a stereotype, it was a pun, what the spider said was a stereotype
This is really bad
This comic fucking sucks
Remove the 4th panel entirely and it's a bit better. Or remove the text in the 4th panel.
Or remove the 3rd & 4th panel & just have it be a non-sequitor, the last two panels feel really forced.
I agree. "You prick" is cringe and makes it clear the author couldn't come up with an actually funny punchline. A text-free fourth panel would be a marginal improvement because it would become understated.
I’ve seen it done better a few different times. The “DePreSsEd HuMaN” joke in comics is stale.
Uh what? A spider being a web developer isn’t a stereotype, it’s a pun. Man Reddit comics are bad.
> Man Reddit comics are bad Who is upvoting these
Bots mostly. They upvote anything that gets an initial bump in r/new. Then more people see that it's getting attention and assume it must be good because "their peers" approved it and upvote it higher.

R/funny was never funny.
You may be right, I was late to the Reddit party so I wouldn’t know. I only browsed 4chong before this, because edgelordism and anime tiddies.
And here I am assuming I don’t get the Youngs’ humor because I am an Old.

It's been this way since I've been here. I think you might have just noticed.
It's probably all the teenagers, not the old people.
Beats me. r/comics has been going for years and to this day I refuse to believe that actual humans are actively upvoting stuff in there.
Animals addressing humans using a boring first name is top-tier humor to some people.
Thousands of 8 year olds are on Reddit upvoting these
But most spiders do develop webs. But not all.
[удалено]
Some spiders produce spider silk but don't develop webs... Seems you are stereotyping him/her...
This comic sounds like a john Oliver "joke"
And why can't it be both? To you (a human, after all) it's a pun and maybe you (as well as jeremy) would make this comment to the gentle spider... That’s the joke friend.
But a human being depressed isnt a pun.
They're two halves of two different jokes.
Doubly so because the stereotype isn't that humans are depressed, it's millennials.
I get it, but I don't "get" it. How is web developer a stereotype? He's hanging from a strand of webbing. He's a spider. It's like two halves of two different jokes ~~masked~~ mashed together. Why does he ask him if he's depressed?
Cringe
GARBAGE
Absolutely.
Not even a stereotype …
Perhaps the worst comic I've ever seen here. This was exceptionally bad.
Yes and yes
Yes
and
Yes
Fuck sake Jeremy
Fuck's*
No, you stick your dick in a bottle of rice liquor named Jeremy.
So does my boot spider

Fuck you spider, you're the prick here
Wow, not even slightly funny.
So like… *huh…*
but hes literally building web as he comes down from the ceiling...this isnt a funny comic. The punchline doesnt make sense.
But it is in fact a web developer, you can see it by the web he developed to talk to you
Jeremy kill that spider.
How is it a stereotype to say spiders build their home?
Jesus Christ, we’re all just okay being depressed. There’s no hope, the government/politicians won and broke everyone and there wasn’t even a fight lol
This is great but would actually I think be even funnier without any text in the final panel

r/thanksimcured
Ok so you don't know what depression is lol
Depression, isn’t that just a fancy word for feeling bummed out!
Spiritual_Toe_1825, you ignorant slut!
it would have been better if the spider also had something funny as a response. That's...not even a zinger. A better retort from the spider: "Oh! How observant! Do you work in Artificial Intelligence?"
Is depression even common in the US? How about globally? Seems like a first world problem.
What? Depression is common everywhere. Depression doesnt depend on the developement of a country. It can have many causes.
Oh. Ok. Is it just more talked about in the open in the US. In SE Asia I never hear about it. Edit: wow according to this study[0] it's more common in SE Asian, I must live under a rock. [0] https://www.statista.com/statistics/981372/distribution-of-depression-globally-by-who-region/

This is not funny
It's a pun, not a stereotype. That spider is mocking mental illness.
Y'all are putting way too much thought into this. Edit: Jesus fuckin' Christ
It’s more that the comic maker didn’t put *enough* thought in, and we’re just pointing it out. Edit: Jesus fuckin’ Christ
Maybe you're not putting enough in
Or maybe the creator didn't put enough thought into it... If we only process one half of the mish mash of the two different jokes at a time, it's fine. It's when you put them together that it doesn't work and makes you overthink it.
This comment is so funny lmao. Defend this shitty comic with your life!!!
Spider is true tho for its question
Why do stereotypes hurt Jeremy?
Stereotypes are there for a reason. In this case both stereotypes were true. And being true is the case for most stereotypes.
A comic that doesn't feel obligated to use the gratuitous 'F' word, so I can share it with my family??? Yes please!
Stereotypes are not made from thin air. They are based on statistics. And seems like the spider was right, so what's the point here?
How about we make a deal spider, you bite me and when I collapse I’ll land on you
Yea thatd hurt. But not as much as getting flattened by my chancla.
I'd like to think spiders would be kinder than that or more sardonic like Charlotte from Charlotte's web.
Oh, a spider. SQUASH!
Yes! I am!
But... are you though?
Stereotypes are usually based on past experience and reality.
But the spider is a web developer and the human does look depressed, stereotypes are what they are for a reason if all so am so are alike that’s their culture, but obviously we are all individuals and with that all kinds of variables, stereotypes are fine but when you make assumptions you risk making an ass out of yourself.
"I mean, I am a web developer. But not because I'm a spider!"
That spider is a douche.
I initially read it as, "Are you a depressed?" like it was his entire-ass career
My wife is a web developer AND depressed. Turns out I married Spider-Woman.
The only hurtful stereotype is one that isn't included.
Jeremy... smAll ENemy sPIder
I read this the wrong way
The spider's on a web though, little asshole. No wonder I hate spiders lol
It’s not really a stereotype I have severe depression
That was a joke. The thing that pains more than stereotypes is having stick in the ass. :D
Humans got nothing but depression. It's pretty much a trademark of being a human.
My kids laughed. I think they found it funny that the spider was talking to a person. Then they asked what depressed means.
Stereotypes exist for a reason cunt ass spider
Oh. Shoe?!
"Yeah, I am depressed asshole"
That spider is a douche, he's literally shitting out web as they speak.
the spiders on the web, so yes, the human is depressed
They're happy to find bugs too
I too would be offended to be called a web developer
Stereotypes can be funny to certain people to that certain race. If it is a excuse to not make friends or talk to that race thats where I cross the line. (racism)
They don't hurt as much as the depression do
Hahahahahahahahahaha...........fuck.
