They are not all bad

Fuckin Star Wars games? Tons of those were great games.
Star Wars Episode 3 ROTS video game is an underrated gem!
Republic commando and KOTOR is one of my favorites
The Lord of the Rings games should be on here
Happy cake day!
I had no idea until you said something, so thank you
Where in the actual fuck is The Warriors? Best licensed video game I've ever played, and I played Goldeneye...
As someone who's play all of these games, I wholeheartedly agree.
Bruh. You forgettin' Ghostbusters 2009?
Star Wars Revenge of the Sith movie video game.
South Park: The Stick of Truth
And the sequel: The Fractured But Whole
Both of them were great
Mad Max was also pretty good. Went in thinking it would be a joke and ended up having fun
This was a real slept on gem. Glad to see another who actually played it. My Magnum Opus was an absolute beast.
Where's Battle for Bikini Bottom?
Battle for the volcano island
Don’t sleep on Aladdin for SNES. The capcom version obviously.
I beat that when I would rent it from blockbuster video back in 1993. It was a very fun platformer game.
I no longer have the game unfortunately but I would still play it today if I had it. Something about it I just adored as a child.
Vimm.net, everything you need to relive that nostalgia
Is this something people still say?
I know I've heard it before (a lot of Aliens games tend to fall under the bad video game adaptation category, then there's the infamous E.T. game that nearly ruined gaming as an industry) but yeah it definitely feels less common these days since gaming as a whole has expanded so much
Thankfully they have gotten much better since the LJN abominations of the 90s. Don't miss the days of going to a rental store and renting something like Back to the Future only to meet absolute disappointment.
Also part of it is probably we remember the good more than the bad, or at least better than the bad but not awful (hello colonial marines). These are games from the past 30 years, so it's fairly easy to cherry pick some good games out of a grouping even if most are bad.
You know, Goldeneye 007 was the breakthrough moment for licensed video games, but you did remind me that there were some very solid efforts before that, like Duck Tales for the NES.
Rescue Rangers was fun too
One of the best two player ones for the nes
That is a strange group of games to pick but i get your point.
Loved NES DuckTales when I was a kid.
Arkham Asylum, City, & Origins, Injustice, most TMNT games, Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom, Transformers War for & Fall of Cybertron (seriously, someone needs to rerelease these), Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, Dragonball FighterZ & Kakarot, actually a lot of anime games I've played are atleast above average. Honestly, 'There arent any good licenced games' has never been less true.
I'll probably have a lot who disagree, but I really liked Constantine on xbox. (I will say that the music was a huge factor)
South Park Stick of truth. South Park Fractured But Whole. Scarface the world is yours. Godfather Dons edition, Godfather 2.
No Lego Star Wars?:(
Games based on movies tend to be better than movies based on games.
It's more like the other-way-around.
There are no good movies based on video games.
**K I N G D O M H E A R T S**
Once again, no one says this. I'm starting to believe that people just use this meme format to list things they like.
Goldeneye is S+ tier videogsme
Perfect dark was a great unlicensed sequel, which is sadly underrated
Personally I think it's overrated but that's not my problem
It’s aged horribly is all. Good for it’s time tho but not much fun to play today
Ya compared to modern games it's very bad. Compared to it's contemporaries it's amazing.
I didn't get an N64 growing up as I had a PC by then so didn't play Goldeneye until after games like Half Life, Quake, Duke3D, and Jedi Knight. It seemed kind of lackluster compared to those titles and I hated the controls and muddy graphics.
It totally is compared to those, but it was miles better than any other FPS for consoles.
To give a good example: The first Jedi Knight (Dark Forces) came out in 1995, two years before GoldenEye, and was considered quite good. The PS1 version came out in 1996, one year before Goldeneye, and was considered... pretty damn bad.
The other benefit of Goldeneye - and I think the real thing that sticks in people's minds - is that it offered pretty decent multiplayer for the time. In the era before stable internet matchmaking, when LANs were the best you could get, the easy accessibility counted for a lot.
The game certainly doesn't hold up in graphics, gameplay, or controls, but for the time there wasn't really any other thing on consoles that could beat it.
It’s the first game I remember playing when I was 4/5 so it’s very dear to me, but it does have its flaws but I love it
Goldeneye (N64) is the first video game that game me motion sickness playing it.
There are a stack of bad Simpsons and Bind games to offset the good ones, but there are definitely gems. The downside is there are a lot of throwaway licensed games.
Simpsons Hit & Run is still one of the best GTA clones IMO. Simpsons Road Rage was fun, and the Simpsons game was great.
Simpsons Skateboarding and Bart’s Nightmare on the other hand....
I was going to mention hit and run. Still have fond memories despite all the open world games I played. It had such good humour and fun.
I have a spot in my heart for Bart's nightmare, some of the games were impossible, but then you get bartzilla and Homer Kong.
I even have a soft spot for that Simpsons mobile game Tapped out
But that was because my parents were a bit cheap (to me)
I remember renting Simpsons Skateboarding from a rental store. Only played like 5 minutes of it then I switched and played Tony Hawk Pro Skater to clear the damage it had done to me.
Same lmao, except it was my brother’s copy of Simpsons Skateboarding. He maintained it was a “great game”. I tried it and went right back to THPS4
Dead by Daylight: “I kind of feel like I am but I am not entirely sure.”
Dead by Daylight players when it's daylight: 💀
Does Kingdom Hearts or Deadpool count?
Goldeneye is legendary
Some licensed games are complete garbage though. Look at the avengers.
For everyone 1 good one there are 10 bad ones
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Spiderman 2 in PS2
Gotta admit, I liked the Jaws game for NES
Battle for bikin bottom and the spongebob movie game
Who the fuck said there were no good licensed video games??
I'm actually watching Markiplier's Alien Isolation series
spider-man 2:out I'am?
It’s a PS2 game based on the Raimi franchise
Yes that one
Batman NES anyone?
Soiderman 2, simpsons hit and run, Star Wars force unleashed (Wii), a lot of the madden games, a couple of WWF games, deadpool, Arkham knight series.
"Ghostbusters" is really solid, too. The game with the original guys, not the lazy tie-in that looked like reheated dog shit.
King Kong on the PS2, oh boy.
also barnyard was a childhood classic of mine, as a kid i always saw that game as a GTA but with farm animals
It’s the movies based on games we’re having trouble with. Detective Pikachu being the highest on rotten tomatoes I think, 70% ?
Wolverine origins or whatever it was called.
Well duck, I didn’t know there was a duck tales game. To bad I can’t play it
Recently started playing Jedi fallen order and that game is the shit.
Micheal Jackson Moonwalk for Sega was the best.
Okay ngl, Alien Isolation was terrifying at places, I know it's just jump scares, but jump and scare I did.
are there bad licensed video games?
Goldeneye is terrible though.
Talk about awful takes. It was the best FPS on any console up until that point, and its multiplayer is still fun to play even today (just don’t pick Oddjob).
Nah, it’s basically unplayable. People are just blinded by nostalgia. Also, Doom is an infinitely better FPS that actually can still be played and enjoyed to this day and was already on several consoles at the time of Goldeneye’s release.
That’s just your opinion, and unfortunately your opinion is shit. In the OG ‘Doom’ from the 90s your guy moved around like a tank and everything was still sprites. It also had very limited environments. Look, it was also great for its time, but Goldeneye was much better and innovated on the FPS formula in a way that hadn’t been seen up until that point.
Nah, you’ve just got you goggles on.
I never played goldeneye until a couple years ago and I grew up with the 64. Goldeneye is still playable. You just need to compromise with 1997. The game didn't have the luxury of 20+ years of improvement. Its still very enjoyable. Just accept it as a party game and don't take video games so seriously.
Or, I could just play a game that’s already good where I don’t have to play tricks on myself to convince me that I wasn’t a dipshit when I thought it was good way back when.
Have you ever considered having fun?
When it comes to games, I only consider having fun. That’s why I never play Goldeneye.
Emulate it with a mouse and keyboard mod. It makes it playable again
Still doesn’t make it good. What’s the point when literally every FPS that came after it is better? I can just play one of those without modding it.
Fuck off win this stupid opinion
Everyone knows I’m right. They just can’t get past “BuT mAh cHiLdHoOd!” To recognize the truth.
Well did you not play it a lot with your friends? There were other shooters but has one been as great at it?
I did. At the time it was passable, because it’s all there was. But there’s literally no reason to play it anymore.
Why not? An awesome version came out for the Wii if your 64 doesn’t work anymore
That “awesome version” is still worse than 99% of FPS games made in the past 20 years. Again, why would I play it when there’s so many actual good games to play? I’m not blinded by nostalgia. I understand that some of the things I liked as a kid were actually shit, and have no trouble leaving them behind. Nostalgia is absolutely the only reason people still play this piece of shit and say it’s great. By every objective metric, it’s trash.
Outside of Halo, which fps is better? Bond is still the gold standard
Every Wolfenstein, every Doom, every Half-Life, every Metro, every Borderlands, every Far Cry, both Titanfalls, Overwatch, Both Team Fortresses, every Counter-Strike, every Bioshock, every Red Faction, every Timesplitters, every Quake, every Unreal Tournament, and while I don’t even like or play them, every CoD and every Battlefield are objectively better games than Goldeneye. Essentially every FPS made since Goldeneye is better than Goldeneye. It was a glitchy, unfinished, piece of shit with terrible controls. The only thing it’s the gold standard of is nostalgia goggles.
No, those are way worse than bond
Star Wars ep 3 game
The Cars games
Imma have to disagree with the walking dead game
