No it disables passive mode although it has no weapons. Same thing happens with the Swift Deluxe. Maybe the option to drink champagne inside the aircraft causes this issue but idk.

If they hangout I'll fly them around the whole map and land at the grapeseed airport where it's safe and load them into a hummer limo to go to my grapeseed arcade
