They were already invented by students.
It’s called: Lying
Just called it a headache, that's kinda technically correct
I wish, I faked a headache for 3 days and my dad kept saying "Just see how it goes" and that line pisses me off
Bruh, it never angered me unless I was actually sick and not faking it.
I fucking hate that line so much it give me a hate-boner
Wait is that a thing?
Only when an immense amount of hatred is present within a male humans body can he achieve a hate boner. After achieving the Hate boner he will enter an enraged state which will result in these symptoms: unneeded sarcasm, increased irritability, increased “longevity” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), and dulling of pain receptors on the shaft. Although masturbation sessions last longer and lead to a better orgasm it is not recommended for you are likely squeeze yourself too hard and your pp will hurt in the morning. If your hate boner lasts more than 8 hours seek either a therapist or a doctor.
TIL students invented lying.
even the teachers would´nt come, they suffer too
Facts. Teachers have it hard
In my country, the teachers already don't come, and they are not sick, because I've never seen anyone get sick every week.
so funny memelord
Teachers take mental health days all the damn time. Half the time it’s for hangovers.
Isn't a sick day for mental health just a sick day? We didn't have to explain in what way we were sick when we were off from school.
for an excused absence (you are required to be allowed to make up work) we had to provide a doctors note or sometimes a parent note would do. My teachers were always fine to let me make up work on unexcused absences but it wasn't required under school rules
We only needed doctors notes if we were off for a long time, which would cover physical and mental health issues. Though I'm not sure if the school would be told the actual illness as that might be patient confidentiality, only that they had a valid reason for being off for an extended period of time. At least that's as far as I remember, I was never off for more than a couple days at a time so I never needed evidence.
We never needed doctor's notes unless you were out for over a week. And even then if it was something like chicken pox they wouldn't even ask for it either.
Yeah, I think it was something like that for us too. Or if you had something obvious like you'd broke your wrist or something you wouldn't need a note.
Pretty sure you have to give a reason for absence, we had to give a letter signed by parents. It was some bs
We just had to have our parents call to say that we wouldn't be in cause we were ill. We didn't have to give any more info than that as far as I remember.
Same, and the people who are already 18 don’t even have to ask their parents to call the school they just can call themselves
I don't think we had that, but they were definitely more lax in your last year of secondary school.
The US is not really on board with taking a day off for mental health.
Hell we are not really even on board with taking a day off for regular health as well.
I guess it's just different here, but that's really a shame. School isn't a punishment and kids shouldn't have to feel like they are enduring it to the detriment of their health, physical or mental.
Not that schools perfect here, and it may even vary between schools.
Not downplaying mental illness, but this would be abused to fuck.
It's possible kids would use it as just a plain old skipping school day, then the school faculty would find out and take away the mental health days, which would hurt the kids with actual mental health problems and really need a day off
That is one of the 2 ways this meme can be interpreted. I was thinking of that and that school actually mentally effects kids
I thought this was what the meme was about lmao.
Honestly I feel that at times and certainly circumstances it could help but honestly it would just do more harm than good.
Stopping going to school can very easily continue a downwards spiral
Yeah, which sucks for people that have actual depressive and manic breakdowns
My school has these, their called mental break days. I think ur allowed 2
u/ngc_gamer I hope you’re ok with me making this
I figure you won't see my comment in the flood of others so I'll leave it here.
100% ok! Super funny as well
(Honestly didn't even expect to get 100 upvotes on the post, so the fact that someone made a second version is awesome)
Yeah that'd be something
hah my school lets us do that, its not as abused as you'd think
Haha if that were the case only try hards would go to school
What are the chances I saw the original meme right above this one
Now imagine how I felt.
Didn't even expect it to get 100 upvotes let alone a second version
I just wanted to say thanks for giving op credit.
That is all
Who's this op you speak of, he sounds cool. Maybe even handsome.
You dont need proof that you are sick unless you are just never st school your parent can call and just say you have a fever and due to a fever not being bad enough for a doctors visit they just belive your parent
i was the champ of this in high school. Had 208 unattendances and still ([barely](https://i.makeagif.com/media/9-12-2016/m0KVKT.gif)) graduated.
My mom used to let me take a mental health day every couple of months during the school year and it really helped, I always said I was sick but couldn't articulate why I actually felt bad, but she always knew when I just needed a break from it all.
*confused in german*
same, like... from what I've seen if your therapist says you need days off you get days off
Dunno why the downvotes, it's the same here in slovenia
Bruh that was right above this one
Isn't that funny.
Now imagine how I felt when I was browsing reddit and saw someone used my meme to make another meme XD
Wait do most school not? My high school has always allowed them
That one student who always missed class tests already clocked this🥲
Staying in bed will usually cure your flu, it won't cure your depression lmao
It's definitely good to take a break. Many students and former students who said they have them in this thread and they definitely helped. For the first few years it would be abused though, hard to implement.
Students would abuse it anyway
*takes the entire year off*
Taking a day off for mental health is a vicious cycle. For past me at least, this would be a recipe for disaster
This rule would get even more abused than the people who need mental health days.
Or they could like, not cause overwhelming stress in their students in the first place
Well, if school wasn't mentally exhausting, I wouldn't have to skip class
Well when i had panic attacks and when i was terribly anxious my mom would let me skip school, and she’d call school and say that i was feeling unwell. But when i had panic attacks or anxiety attacks in school my teachers would help and my mom picked me up soon after
Knew someone that took off a day per month, literally only happy kid in the entire school
Weird how y'all are ignoring how students just don't go in anyway if they don't feel like it. It was really easy to just say you don't feel well and not go in.
Slips a $20 bill to the family doctor: "One depression dignostic please"
I would never be able to do it unfortunately as then I would fall behind in classes which just harms my mental more
If your parents decided to keep you home for a day to recover or rest the school can't do anything about it.
Parents only need to send a sick note. They don't need to describe the sickness.
It's the parents not the Schools that need to notice the signs
I think it’s painfully clear at this point that schools don’t give a shit about your mental health
Hmm some of the comments in here are pretty negative. I just want to say, to anyone with mental health issues, it's ok to prioritize survival over academics. I ended up not graduating high school and I don't regret that decision. It's never too late to get your GED. Some of us need time to heal.
its probably the 15% of people with actual mental health problems, 80% faking their mental health, 5% who skips whether the mental health is a thing or not
Except that most teenagers do not feel terrific. It's normal, it's a freacking difficult time in life. It's also very stressful.
Hm, perhaps we shouldn’t make school a hellscape? 🤔
Some kids already do chronically not attend at all. But most kids do realize that it’s important to graduate, and for that you need to be there *most of the time*.
I would have loved remote school.
Just like prison, the worst thing was the other inmates.
But apparently we need to attend physically to make sure we are properly socialised and know our place in the pecking order.
There was one girl when I was growing up who came an average of 2 days a week. I don’t really know how it worked out
Not too well, I’d guess! (Unless she had some form of combination with homeschooling/college ed.) Did your school explicitly allow mental health days off?
>most of the time
Yeah, like everyday.
Nah, I was definitely off school more than I was in and I passed everything just fine
Same from 16 to 18. Still, not a solid avice. Not a good idea for everyone. Can't include it in the Education for America Act
Oh no, not for everyone. Definitely depends on your mental state and what mental conditions you have (if any)
Depends on your ability to get good grades vs the required effort.
That's true, it also depends on how interested you are in a topic ime, I did excellent in biology because I really liked learning about how everything worked; in chemistry? No desire to learn, didn't do very well
Mental health days are stupid in general, its just an excuse to validate an unscheduled day off.
Being alone the whole day with your thoughts isnt probably the best idea... And actual mental health issues arent over in a day or few like a flu. Those are called normal emotions.
I'll allow it
I mean he did credit me after all
ah yes. so next time when my teacher calls my name for a question. I shall tell my teacher im stressed out af and go back home
Just what I thought
No worries my front page suggested his post next xD
Funny how that happens
in what world do you live that this isn't allowed? in middle school your parents just have to write a note and in highschool for exams (!) you need a doctor's note (and he will surely give it to you if you just talk about your mental health problems)
so the og post is kinda pointless out of my view
People be like; "That's my secret, I'm always having mental troubles"
Confused I had a good education noises
If no one abused it and only took them when needed then the attendance rate would still be 0%
Why would the cause of most of your mental health issues allow you to try and get rid of them? Nice idea though
In Germany they do
They should though
Is this some kind of American meme that I am too European to understand?
I didn't even think of that idea. When tf was I made to believe that physical illness > mental illness
I'm pretty sure you are legally allowed to take off days as a mental health day but its pretty harshly looked down upon in today's society. I have only taken one myself
They do allow that.
yea, for those with nice enough parents.
Mine does that, I've had to lie about it once tho since I was going to.Kansas
My mom forced me to go to school with food poisoning. I could literally hang myself and she'd probably send my corpse there.
Wait what? In Germany you are able to. Otherwise damn I would have a hard time. You are even able to get an certificate that let's you go whenever you want because of mental health issues that way you don't have to go to the doctor every time.
I always let my kids pick a day every year for their mental health. They got to spend the day at home alone, no siblings, just video games or TV and cookies. Yes they turned out just fine - responsible adults.
My school district has these. I can’t remember if we’re allowed 2 or 4 per year.
Sick days are not offered to those because the school actually cares for their well-being. They are offered sick days so that they do not spread the illness. Get a contagious mental illness and you shall get your wish
School should be optional
Yall never getting days off again.
2020 was a dry run for snow days.
We got one over the course of four years- Senior Skip day, usually the Friday before a 3 day weekend, usually in the spring to give us a 4 day weekend.
The worst part is that would result in the student just having too do more work when they get back
If this hakke ed I kuukd still fmgin to echiik but would hurt for three hsyd anf the mg gi bek to ekiikrf
If you have an understanding parent then those already exist
My step mom allowed me to take “mental health days” if my grades were good. Allowing me to take days off depending if I had As and Bs. It was so great.
I already could do this. My mom would write me a note to get out of school if I needed a day off.
I maybe did that two or three times in my entire school career, but when I did it, I really needed it.
Jus cause people are stupid and can’t handle the work load doesn’t mean they have a mental health issue
In my humble opinion nah
Where have I seen this before.
(I was a a little to happy to see that someone added on to my meme)
They have them for teachers at my school but the students get no such thing.
I think my school does that. Sometimes when a student is absent, their friend is like "Yeah, they're taking a mental health break. They say that they haven't been feeling too good throughout the week."
Isn’t this just a reaction meme?
I do it all the time. I say I’m sick, but I do it when I need it.
I was very depressed in high school and I missed around 3 - 4 months total my junior and senior year, some days I literally could not muster up the mental strength to get up and immediately knew I wouldn't be able to go that day. I would stay in the same spot until late at night
I can handle school. I just hate teachers that don’t provide good study guides, allow retakes, or give extra credit. It would spare some mental health if there’s chances to pick your grade back up
If the student has an actual mental illness then I'm all for that, zero point in coming to school if you're just going to be panicking all day due to anxiety. Or just disinterested with a depressive episode.
With that said I think there should still be a limit before further psychological assistance may be needed, or options besides traditional public schooling.
But if it's "I just need a mental health day" nah kid, not that easy, make some fake vomit like the rest of us did lol.
My parents let me take a mental health day if I needed it (even encouraged it). They didn’t think “sick days” strictly required fevers.
In Germany for calling in sick you need a sick leave from the doctor and you can get a sick leave for things like depression.
I have depression
"Welcome to the club. Make sure to grab some free fruit punch"
No you don't.
And how would you know that
